Probe ASUU! -Group Tells Police (See Why)

A civil society group has urged the Nigeria police to investigate officials of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over the hacked website of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The group, Concerned Stakeholders in Education and Governance said the officials must be investigated to ascertain the roles in the hacked website.

A statement jointly signed by group’s president Bala Kuta and its secretary general Silas Awulu said the CSEG condemns the statement credited to the ASUU University of Ibadan chapter’s chairman Deji Omole. Omole had called for the sack of Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB’s registrar, and scrapping of the examination bodyBut in his reaction, Kuta said CSEG view Omole’s statement against Oloyede and the examination body as a plot to sabotage the admission process in Nigeria.

He said the plot is also aimed a favouring syndicates that some dubious lecturers, who are no doubt ASUU members, use for populating the nation’s higher institutions with mediocre candidates. We also demand that the Police should further probe the hackers of the JAMB website to see if there is any nexus between the criminals and members of ASUU, University of Ibadan that they can go any length to destroy Professor Oloyede and his good reforms for Nigeria,” Kuta said.

Recall that the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested five suspects in this regard. We think that it is no coincidence that some of these suspects were arrested in Oyo state, where Dr Omole is based, in addition to the others caught in Ogun and Borno state. He added that the solution ASUU’s tactics is simply to get back at the chief executive of a government agency.

The group said the statement attributed to the University of Ibadan ASUU chapter chairman on scrapping of JAMB is a ploy to sabotage the education in NigeriaHe said that members of ASUU have focused on the perennial demand for increase in their wages while leaving the welfare and quality of education to the dogs that they cannot appreciate trends in education.Even as it tries to remove the speck from another’s eye, in the ultimate insult to Nigerians, ASUU has refused to address the numerous cases of cultism, examination malpractice and sexual abuses perpetrated by its members on Nigerian campuses.

“It is therefore ridiculous that it has appointed itself into a tribunal over the Governing Board of JAMB. “We therefore call on the University of Ibadan Chapter of ASUU and Dr Omole to apologize to Nigerians for calling for the scrapping of JAMB,” Kuta added.

Dangote is Giving Out 3,000 Job Offers!, Rolls out First Made-in-Nigeria Trucks

Dangote Sinotruck West Africa Limited, a multi-million Nigeria truck assembly plant established in Lagos by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has rolled out its first set of locally assembled trucks for local consumption.

The $100 million project which is supporting full employment of 3,000 Nigerians to boost the national economy, also aims to meet an expected increased demand for logistics, construction and other industries in the country.
Disclosing this on Tuesday, during a media tour of the facility in Ikeja, the company’s Group General Manager, Projects, Mr  Hikmat Thapa, said the truck plant which is 65 per cent owned by Dangote and 35 per cent by Sinotruk, will assemble and produce full range of commercial vehicles covering heavy duty truck, medium truck, light truck and  other semi-trailers.
During the tour of the plant, Thapa showcased a couple of measures put in place for quality control at different stages of production, while he said the newly rolled out trucks have undergone necessary technical tests making them fit for Nigeria roads.
Speaking further in company of other management staff, Thapa said the plant is currently running an eight-hour work shift but hopes to begin full working shift in May, while the second shift which starts in June, will do 24-hour daily production.
Though currently assembling between four to five trucks per day, Thapa said the plant has the capacity to assemble and produce 16 trucks a day, which amounts to 10,000 trucks annually.
From June when the second phase of production starts with two shifts of 24-hour daily operation, the company hopes to move from Semi-Knocked Down (SKD) components to Completely Knocked Down (CKD) parts assembly.
“Currently we are starting with SKD and now waiting for the CKD parts coming at the end of the month, but as soon as we move on to 24-hour daily operation, we will churn out between 20 and 30 trucks per day,” Thapa said.
With all these, he said the company aims to provide new employment opportunities, improve local automobile technology, equipment and technology level, and promote the economic development in Nigeria.
The company said “with the formation of the production base, not only the market demands in Nigeria can be met, but also the requirements of covering the neighbouring countries will be gradually met.”
Besides, Dangote Sinotruk also makes contributions to build friendly relationships between China and Nigeria, the company said.
Apart from local assembling of trucks, the plant will also start the production of cabins needed by the locally assembled vehicles, and form its production line with local content plus imported ones, while engine production is also part of the company’s programmes.
Thapa said the partnership with Sinotruk, China, will be of a great advantage to boost the technological advancement of the company, being the cradle China’s heavy-duty truck, and the largest production and export base for heavy-duty truck in China.
Established in 1960, Sinotruk which is reputable for manufacturing of heavy duty truck, medium truck, light truck, bus, other special purpose trucks and military trucks, is a publicly traded company in HKSE main board in 2007, with more than 48,000 employees.

Seven signs your social media account has been hacked

It is no gainsaying that social

media is now an important feature in our lives.

Almosteveryone uses it, from celebrities to inuencers, businesses, news platforms and marketers.
Some persons have even leveraged it to make money. So, it is important for your differentsocial media accounts to be secured. Regardless of this, since you are online, and thereare hackers prowling for accounts to hack, you have to be observant to know if youraccounts have been illegally accessed or not.

In line with this, here are seven signs your social media account has been hacked.

  • You are unable to log into your accounts

This is an obvious sign that hackers may have hijacked your account. You have triedseveral passwords but you

are still locked out of your account. Even the change password option is not working.

It must have been a very sophisticated hack. The only way you can have your account back is to contact Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat.

  • Status not updated by you

This is perhaps the simplest way to know if your social media account has been hacked. You will see tweets or posts you didn’t share appearing on your timeline. It may bepolitical or propagandist messages. You should immediately change your password.

  • Your number of followers signicantly Jumps

You only have 300 followers on

either your Instagram or Twitter page. Then you suddenly notice that it jumped to like 2,000 or 3,000. It is strange right and you never followedanyone. In fact, Instagram or Twitter will not allow you to garner 2,000 or 3,000 followers a day. If this is the case, it is highly possible that your account has been hacked.

  • Someone logged into your account from an unusual location

Sometimes, you may add the wrong location for reasons best known to you. However, if you see a location you never added, it is an alert that someone is illegally accessing your account from that location.

You may want to do some check to be sure you were not theone that changed it.

  • You cannot find all your posts

All your posts for years have grown wings and own away.

You cannot find them.

You search and search but you still cannot find them.

You log in and log out but its still the same thing. It is advisable you change your password or you have to deactivate that account and open a new one.

  • Too many ‘spammy’ ads on your page

This mainly applies to Facebook. A seemingly interesting post is

recommended to you to read. If you click it, you have opened the oodgate to spammy ads.

That click will allow hackers to access your account.

  • Your cover image has been replaced

If your cover image has been replaced with a naked woman or any other nasty picture or photo, it means someone is attempting to frame you or in the process of usurping

your account.  You should look out for this on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

I hope this helps!

The event which took place in New York in the United States, was attended by dignitaries from across the world, all committed to eradicating the scourge of malaria in the world.

The organisers say Mr Dangote was honored for his role in fighting the spread of the disease in Africa and Nigeria in particular, through his contributions to the ‘Saving One Million Lives in Nigeria’ initiative.

Although the event sought to address the malaria menace, it was still indeed an evening of relaxation.
