Cardiff University is offering Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships worth over £2M, offer funding awards to international students for the year 2017. Scholarships are available to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate taught levels of study.

The overreaching aim of establishing the Cardiff University was to transform the public higher education to improve quality and efficiency of teaching and learning, creating a world-class higher learning institution.

Cardiff is established as one of Britain’s leading universities. Its ambition is to be among the top 100 universities in the world and top 20 in the UK.

Free Gift: 

In the case of applicants whose first language is not English, competence in the English language is also a criterion of admission.

Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate taught levels of study.

Applicants who do not meet the requirements of their formal UCAS offer will not be eligible for the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship, even if you are accepted into the University.
  • Undergraduate applicants – Unconditional offer holders
    If you are holding an unconditional offer you must confirm Cardiff University as your Firm choice by your UCAS deadline and your academic results must meet, or exceed, the University’s standard entry requirement for your programme. This can be found online.
  • Postgraduate applicants – Conditional offer holders
    You must meet, or exceed, the University’s standard requirement set for your programme. Our standard course requirements can be found online. You must accept your offer and meet all the offer conditions, including any deposit deadline stated in your offer letter, by 31 August 2017. Applicants who do not meet the stated requirements will not be eligible for the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship, even if you are accepted into the University.
  • Postgraduate applicants – Unconditional offer holders
    If you are holding an unconditional offer, your academic results must meet, or exceed, the University’s standard entry requirement for your programme. Our standard course requirements can be found online. You must pay any deposit by the deadline in your offer letter and accept your offer by 31 August 2017.
  • The Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship is available to eligible students studying on selected Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught degree programmes. A full list of eligible programmes is available online. Programmes not shown in this list are not included in the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship scheme. Post Graduate Certificate/Diploma awards are not included in the scheme.
  • No separate application for the scholarship is required. If you are holding an offer for an eligible programme and meet the criteria, you will automatically be awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship.

International Youth Friendship Camp 2017

International Youth Friendship Camp #5 (IYFCamp) is a platform camp to unite and meet young generation to have meaningful experiences by doing some valuable activities.

After successfully organizing the first IYFCamp in 2013, took place in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, the secon, the third and the fourth IYFCamp in Bali last February, and October 2016,  last march 2017, AYFN will hold the fourth IYFCamp with the theme of “Beyond youth program,”. Fully Funded: School of Computing and Creative Technology PhD Studentships in UK, 2017-2018

Leeds Beckett University is offering three fully funded PhD Studentships within the School of Computing, Creative Technologies and Engineering. UK/EU and Overseas students are eligible to apply for this studentship.

Leeds Beckett University is a public university in Leeds, West Yorkshire, with campuses in the city centre and Headingley. The university’s origins can be traced to 1824, with the foundation of the Leeds Mechanics Institute.

Course Level: Studentships are available to pursue PhD programme.

Study Subject: Studentships are awarded within the School of Computing, Creative Technologies and Engineering.

Scholarship Award: The awards cover the standard UK stipend (£14,553 in 2017/18; pro-rata into 12 monthly payments and exempt from UK Income Tax and National Insurance) and tuition fees (EU/UK fees only).

You should have:

  • A good first degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or other numerate discipline e.g. electronic engineering with a significant computer programming content or MSc in computer science / artificial intelligence.
  • Good scientific programming skills (e.g. C++, Python and/or Matlab).
  • Some familiarity with Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining, especially machine learning techniques.
  • Positive attitude towards working as part of a collaborative research project.
  1. Computational intelligence-based optimisation of drones positions and movements for disaster management applications

You should have:

  • A good first degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or other numerate discipline e.g. electronic engineering with a significant computer programming content or MSc in computer science / artificial intelligence.
  • Good scientific programming skills (e.g. Python, Matlab or C++).
  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence especially evolutionary algorithms and/or machine learning.
  • Some familiarity with network simulation and/or ad hoc networks.
  • Positive attitude towards working as part of a collaborative research project.

Nationality: UK/EU and Overseas students are eligible to apply for this studentship.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have a good first degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or other numerate discipline

English language Requirements: If your first language is not English, we will require evidence that you have the necessary language skills to fulfil the requirements of the award. You will need to provide evidence of a minimum International English Language Testing System Grade 6.5 (IELTS 6.5) with no individual sub-score below 6.0 or equivalent for all research awards. For entry in February 2017 and onwards we require evidence of a minimum International English Language Testing System Grade 7.0 (IELTS 7.0) with no individual sub-score below 6.5. If you have successfully completed a UK bachelors (first or 2.1) or UK masters degree, in the two years before entry, this will suffice for the English language requirements. If you completed your UK degree over two years ago you will still need to demonstrate your English Language by taking an IELTS text.

  • Applications should be submitted in writing to one of the research projects listed.
  • Applicants should complete the research student application form and provide a research proposal using the criteria below as a guide.
  • The research proposal can be up to four A4 pages in length (with references as an addition to the four-page proposal) using type Arial 12 point.

Leaders of Tomorrow are invited to full Participate in the 12th edition of the Economic Forum of Young Leaders in Nowy Sącz, in the south of Poland. More than 350 young leaders from 43 counties meet in Poland to debate with prominent representatives of political, social and business life of the modern world to create ideas for the future of Europe. The Forum has been known as “Davos of the Youth” or “young Krynica” for years now.

The main aim of the Forum is to gather a diversified group of people from different backgrounds and countries, hence the organizers kindly ask to register only one person per organization. The World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) 2017 campaign: Heritage in our hands will take stock of the progress made over the past ten years to mobilize youth to preserve and promote World Heritage by reaching out to their peers and their communities.

Over the past ten years, the World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) Initiative has tremendously grown due to the increasing interest and appreciation for the protection and preservation of World Heritage sites. In the year of its 10th anniversary, 51 youth action projects will be implemented at 50 World Heritage properties and sites inscribed on the Tentative Lists, from May through November 2017, by 46 organisations in 32 countries.

All participants will get participation certificate. Also a visit to other local heritage sights in Ahmedabad

About the Award: The Fund and the selection of the students are managed by a Committee composed by students, professors and officers of the University of Pavia. The Committee will select – among the applicants – the students who will receive a scholarship for the Academic Year 2017-2018. This is a call for applications currently opened to candidates from Developing Countries.

Eligibility: 

  • Only the following candidates can apply for a scholarship: only citizens of a Developing Country classified as a low-income economy or as a lower-middle-income economy by the World Bank
  • Only students born on/after the 1st January 1982 can participate.

Number of Awards: Not specified

Value of Program: The scholarship is intended to cover one Academic year and will be paid as monthly installments of 1.000 Euros each. Selected students will receive 8.000 Euros, paid as monthly installments of 1.000 Euros each. They will decide how to spend them, mainly for living.

Duration of Program:  1 academic year (about 10 months)

– May/June 2017: collection of the applications;
– June 2017: selection of the winning student;

About the Award: The Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards are all about supporting and celebrating inspirational young people from all over the world with existing initiatives, products or services that are tackling some of the planet’s biggest sustainability challenges.

This year, the Awards will recognise initiatives in four key areas:

  1. Farm to Table: In this category, we are looking for inspiring entrepreneurs who are working on sustainable initiatives relating to food and drink production right through to consumption.
  2. Opportunities for Women: We are seeking initiatives that help to tackle the discrimination and disadvantages millions of women face around the world. You might be working to help provide access to skills and training for women, and creating opportunities for women to actively, safely
  3. Waste: Are there entrepreneurs out there with ingenious initiatives that help to tackle waste – to reduce, reuse or recycle waste throughout the pre-production, production and consumption lifecycle? Initiatives should demonstrate a clear business
  4. Water: Are you working on an initiative that tackles water scarcity, or one that addresses water pollution or sanitation and hygiene issues? We are looking for solutions that conserve or reduce the amount

Eligibility: Anyone from around the world, aged between 18 and 35 (as of 30 June 2017), who is working on an initiative in one of our four categories; Farm to Table, Opportunities for Women, Waste and Water. Your initiative must have already progressed beyond the idea stage and started making an impact.

Selection Process: The Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards will recognise up to eight winners in 2017. Two finalists in each of the four categories will be selected from a video interview process and invited to an Accelerator Programme in Cambridge, where they will work with experts from the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, Unilever and other guest experts.

A winner will be selected out of each of the four categories. Those category winners will go forward to pitch to a guest judging panel who will then decide on the overall winner of the 2017 competition.

Value of Program:  The overall winner will receive the ‘HRH The Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize.’

All will attend a special prize event hosted in London.

  • The winner of the ‘HRH The Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize’ will receive a €50,000 cash award and one-to-one mentoring support tailored to their specific needs for a duration of 12 months.
  • The category winners will receive a €10,000 cash award and one-to-one mentoring support tailored to their specific needs for a duration of 12 months.
  • The category finalists will receive a €7,000 cash award and one-to-one mentoring support tailored to their specific needs for a duration of 12 months.

Opportunity for Africans: AKoma Amplify Fellowship for Content Creators in Africa 2017

aKoma is delighted to invite applications for the Amplify II, the second cohort of our Fellowship for Content Creators and Storytellers in Africa. Amplify provides Fellows in the capital cities of Rwanda, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana (added in 2017) a brew of online, face to face, and field instruction in written, visual, audio and photography content creation, delivered by a thoughtfully curated group of subject matter experts in those fields.

For the duration of the program, each Fellow is required to create and submit a content post on aKoma every week. at the end of each month, the country cohort will complete an assigned project as a team. Each week, fellows meet virtually with a content SME who instructs them in topics related to content creation, storytelling, media careers, team collaboration, and project management. the aKoma team also provides additional instruction, and guest speakers.

Benefits

  • Thirty Fellows are selected annually across the four countries for the six month program, each receiving a considerable monthly stipend plus coverage of their high speed internet access, and other expenses as determined by the aKoma team.

Eligibility

  • Applicants should reside or be available in one of these locations:
    • Accra, Ghana
    • Kigali, Rwanda
    • Nairobi, Kenya
    • Lagos, Nigeria
  • Applicants must commit to 8-10 hours every week to participate in Amplify activities. No exceptions will be made. Please do not apply if you can’t make this commitment
  • Be able to show samples of your work, and have a visible presence on social media that displays your work on the web

Selection Process

The Amplify II Fellows will be selected by the aKoma crew. They select Fellows based on their creative pursuits so far, content creation aspirations, alignment with Amplify’s vision, and other factors. They are interested in the possible range and impact of the potential Fellow’s work, the diversity of their creative work, and the ability to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by Amplify.

There will be two rounds:

  • The first round will run through July 7, 2017
  • A final round will run from the July 7 – 14, when we will announce the Amplify II Fellowship recipients
